Shuttle Van Driver

Department: Operations
Location: Ashton, PA

Start of Shift

  • Report to supervisor and clock in.
  • Perform Daily Shuttle Van Safety Check and report any discrepancies to your supervisor.
    • Check oil/antifreeze levels and check belts and hoses for leaks or breakage.
    • Start engine, turn on all lights and beacon, turn on 4-way flashers.
    • Walk around unit and make sure all are working.
    • Make sure all tires are inflated.
    • Make sure all windows are clear of snow, frost etc. Operate wipers and test horn.

Inventory/Supplies

  • Clip board with paper and pencil/pen to log in trucks.
  • Trash bag.
  • Water.
  • Cooler with ice.
  • Radio/phone to communicate with dispatch.
  • Maps to yard, if needed, to hand out.

Responsibilities

  • Help auto haulers locate units to be loaded.
    • This is your first priority.
    • NOTE 15M.P.H Maximum Speed allowed on ramps.
    • Flashers must be on at all times while traveling in yard.
  • Cleanliness of the shuttle van must be kept up at all times.
    • All supplies will be given to you by supervisor.
    • Remove trash and park shuttle where instructed to by supervisor.
    • Do a post walk around making sure that all windows are up and doors are locked and van is secured.
  • Cleanliness of the yard must be maintained.
    • Be aware of the yard cleanliness at all times.
    • If a VTC auto hauler is littering, and can be identified, report immediately to supervisor.
    • If straps, rubber blocks, etc. are being left by VTC auto haulers, they must be picked up and reported to supervisor.
  • Stay to the side where the auto hauler is going to disembark and just past the unit they want.  Have them cross behind you.
  • If you have to back up, sound the horn and watch for others.
    • Avoid this as much as possible.
  • Report any problems to your supervisor immediately.
  • You may at times be requested to assist with yard inventory.
  • Complete any and all tasks assigned by management.


GOALS

  1. Keep auto haulers in motion to reduce wasteful time spent looking for vehicles.
  2. Assist dispatch with efficiency and organization.
  3. Reduce risk of injuries.

Two shifts available - 6 am - 2:30 pm and every other Saturday or 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm and every other Saturday

Full benefit package; $150,000 of company paid life insurance; BCBS PPO plan; vacation, sick and personal time available after 30 days.
