Payroll Assistant

Department: Payroll
Location: West Warwick, RI

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

"Essential functions" are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

  1. Assist in preparation of weekly payroll (including Canada employees).
  2. Answer phones and assist caller with payroll issues.
  3. Assist employees in using Paychex site.
  4. Post settlements on e-services (weekly).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. Three years’ experience in a multi-state payroll department.
  2. Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.  TMW experience a plus.
  3. Knowledge of full cycle payroll.
  4. Experience with Paychex or ADP payroll systems.
  5. Comfortable working in a high-stress environment and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and auto haulers.
  7. Strong communication skills (oral, written and listening).
  8. Team player.
  9. Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
  10. Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties.  Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions and stressed dispatchers and auto haulers.
