Quality Control Field Supervisor - Regional

JOB TITLE:             Quality Control Field Supervisor                    FLSA:    Exempt       


REPORTS TO:         Quality Assurance Manager 


SUMMARY:             Work with auto haulers known to cause higher amounts of damages.  All duties are to be performed only as they relate to auto haulers identified to have higher damage frequencies and as explicitly directed by the Quality Assurance Manager.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: “Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.


  1. 1.      Ensure vehicles are safely loaded for transport.


  1. 2.      Assist auto haulers with achieving damage free deliveries to designated dealerships.


  1. 3.      Perform and sign off on truck and load audits.


  1. 4.      Validate that auto haulers are doing pre-inspections.


  1. 5.      Make sure that auto haulers are performing mandated truck loading procedures to eliminate injuries and damages.


  1. 6.      Report all safety and quality concerns immediately to the Quality Assurance Manager and to the respective Terminal Manager.


  1. 7.      Submit daily reports (who, what, where when and why.)


  1. 8.      Investigate problem route inspections, as needed.


  1. 9.      Act as a goodwill ambassador for all auto haulers while performing these tasks.


  1. 10.  Resolve issues and follow through with ideas on how to reduce damages in the terminal.


  1. 11.  Complete any and all tasks assigned by management




  1. 1.      Reduce damages.


  1. 2.      Provide better quality to our dealers.


  1. 3.      Reduce risk of injuries.




  1. 1.      Five years of yard supervision experience or 3 years of auto-hauling experience.


  1. 2.      Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office 2010.


  1. 3.      Ability to rapidly analyze issues, establish priorities, anticipate consequences, make decisions and initiate action.


  1. 4.      Comfortable working in a high-stress environment and ability to stay calm under pressure.


  1. 5.      Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with dispatchers and drivers.


  1. 6.      Strong communication skills (oral, written and listening) with motivational ability.


  1. 7.      Strong leader and team player.


  1. 8.      Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties.  Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions and stressed dispatchers and drivers.


  1. 9.      Work will be required on weekends and some holidays.


  1. 10.  Must be familiar with DOT requirements for pre/post trip inspections.


  1. 11.  (VTC will assist with training) Certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid.


  1. 12.  (VTC will assist with training) Reasonable suspicion training.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and hot/cold outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work area may be loud.

Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials. 

Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person.

There is a high level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of more than 25 lbs. Along with extended period of standing or walking.
